Meet the staff of The Outdoor Education Center at Camp Olympia!
Our former HISD certified teachers provide exceptional hands-on, outdoor educational programming for schools and districts throughout the area. Our experienced staff will facilitate authentic interactions with the natural ecosystems and will work with your school to create a program tailored to your specific needs and grade level.
Kimberley Williams is an East Texas Native and is so proud of it, you don’t have to ask, she will tell you. She graduated from East Texas Baptist University where she spent her time in the trees working for the ropes course. Her time there taught her the importance of teamwork, communication, and leadership, as well as how much she did not enjoy being inside.
After graduation, she took an associate outdoor leader position with the Houston ISD Outdoor Education Center and realized her passion for inspiring curiosity, challenging others to think, and leading explorations of the forest. She left the position after two years to pursue teaching in a traditional classroom. During this time, she had two rambunctious little girls with her husband Andrew and continued her career in education by starting and running an early childcare center at her church.
She was finally able to return to outdoor education in the fall of 2016 when she became one of four teachers for the HISD OEC. When Houston ISD decided to close the doors of the Outdoor Education Center and Camp Olympia chose to keep it running, she came on board to help ensure that students would continue to have life-changing experiences.
Fun fact: Kim’s family was one of the first 300 in Texas!

His teaching experience includes being the Science Lab teacher at HISD’s Robinson Elementary, where he earned New Teacher of the Year. Additionally, he was a teacher with HISD’s Outdoor Education Center, where he received Outdoor Educator of the Month honors.
Now, Brian is a Texas Certified Environmental Educator and a board member for the Texas Association for Environmental Education. He is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at Stephen F. Austin University. As a leader with the Outdoor Education Center at Camp Olympia, he looks forward to facilitating meaningful learning experiences and exploring nature with students. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, camping, and riding his motorcycle.
